The Business Table Was Built to Close a Gap No One Was Talking About

Professionals spend years mastering their craft. Almost none of them are taught how to navigate the table where business actually gets done.

Helping Professionals Feel as Confident at the Table as They Do in the Boardroom

Kelly Stone is the founder of The Business Table, a professional-development experience designed to help rising professionals confidently navigate business dining, wine selection, client entertainment, and the social side of building professional relationships.

With more than 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, business development, corporate programs, and client relationships, she has spent her career working with companies and professionals across a wide range of industries.

Over the years, one thing became increasingly clear: companies do an excellent job teaching people how to perform their jobs — but very few teach them how to handle the moments that happen outside the conference room.

The client dinner.

The networking event.

The wine list.

The business lunch with senior leadership.

The moment when someone says, "Why don't you choose the wine?"

Those situations can feel surprisingly intimidating, especially for younger professionals who are otherwise highly capable and accomplished.

That insight became the foundation for The Business Table.

A Practical Approach to Professional Confidence

Kelly created The Business Table to make business dining and wine education approachable, practical, and relevant to real-world professional situations.

The program is not about becoming a wine expert.

It is about knowing enough to feel comfortable, make thoughtful decisions, represent your company well, and stay focused on what matters most — the relationship across the table.

Participants learn how to:

  • Navigate a wine list with confidence
  • Select wine within an appropriate business budget
  • Communicate comfortably with a sommelier
  • Understand proper wine service and tasting etiquette
  • Host clients professionally
  • Manage alcohol appropriately in business settings
  • Handle business-dining situations with confidence and good judgment

The teaching style is intentional, conversational and practical. The goal is to remove the intimidation and give participants skills they can use immediately.

Our Philosophy

We don't teach etiquette for etiquette's sake. We teach it because confidence at the table translates directly into confidence in the relationship — and confident professionals close more business, earn more trust, and advance faster. Every program we design starts with that outcome in mind.

Practical Over Prescriptive

Rules exist to serve the relationship. We teach professionals how to think at the table, not just what fork to use.

Immersive by Design

Skills are built through doing. Every program includes live simulation in real dining environments — not lectures in conference rooms.

Discreet and Judgment-Free

We create a safe space for professionals to ask the questions they've always been afraid to ask in front of clients or colleagues.
